Bruny Island is located on the south-east corner of Tasmania. The Bruny Island Ferry, Mirambeena, departs from the seaside township of Kettering (35 minutes south of Hobart). The ferry carries both passengers and vehicles departing a minimum of ten times daily. There is no need to book, you simply arrive at the ferry terminal and pay as you drive on. The journey will take approximately 15 minutes, with Dolphin sightings not uncommon from the top deck. Once you reach the other side, take your watch off, throw your mobile phone out the window, because you're on beautiful Bruny Island!
There is no public transport to or on Bruny Island, so you will need to bring your own car or hire a car. Europcar, Hertz, Thrifty and Budget all hire cars in Hobart and this can be arranged at the airport. AVIS also operates in Tasmania but they do not currently allow their vehicles to travel to Bruny Island.
Bookings are not required!
